Materials Management in Life Sciences

When a Reservationist identifies the need to procure a product that is managed as a stock item in the Materials Management Department, a SAP Reservation will be created. Reservationists will log on to SAP and will create a Reservation that outlines all of their material requirements for stock managed goods. They will enter details about the material, including quantity and delivery date. Reservationist could also view material by using the display material transaction.

Common Issues: Users had to remember multiple transaction codes. SAP screens were not readily portable to the mobile environment. Involved steep learning curve.

GuiXT Mobile Suite is used to simplify Creat Purchase requisitions, create reservation and goods issue. SAP screens were modified to port to the mobile environment. Reduced data entry to complete purchase requisition process. Default start transaction was created. Buttons were provided on default screen, from where users could carry out various operations by clicking on buttons, not requiring them to remember any transactions. Material display transaction was modified in a way to fit the mobile screens and display only the required fields. Reduced complexity involved in creating purchase requisitions, creating reservations and display material process. Reduced time and effort involved in the process.
