Steps to add SAP search help:
Note: You must have GuiXT's search help ABAP program installed in SAP in order to utilize search help options on GuiXT fields.
Scenario 1
- Modify the screen you want the user to see. Remove unnecessary fields/tabs and add custom fields.
- Disable GuiXT.
- You may temporarily disable GuiXT by typing in the transaction bar: /ws_WS=0
- Navigate to the default SAP field with the search help you want to copy.
- Select the field by clicking on it, then press F1 to bring up the field help.
- Click on "Technical Information"
- If you see the search help displayed, copy it.
- If you are unable to see the search help displayed go to Scenario 2.
- Re-enable GuiXT.
- If you used the command above, you may re-enable by using /ws_WS=1
- You may need to refresh the screen by typing in the transaction bar:?
- In Designer right-click -> Properties the field you want to add the help to.
- Click on the "Search Help" tab, click the radio button for SearchHelp, and then place the search help you found here.
- Save in Designer and all the changes will appear in SAP.
Scenario 2
- Repeat scenario 1 until step 5.
- Double-click on "Field Name". (You will need access to SE11)
- Double-click on the Field.
- Copy the Search help name.
- If you see the search help displayed, copy it.
- If you used the command above, you may re-enable by using /ws_WS=1
- You may need to refresh the screen by typing in the transaction bar:?
- In Designer right-click -> Properties the field you want to add the help to.
- Click on the "Search Help" tab, click the radio button for SearchHelp, and then place the search help you found here.
- Save in Designer and all the changes will appear in SAP.
