Liquid UI - Documentation - 4.02 Server Connections

4.02 Server Connections

The Server Connections appear on the first screen when you launch Liquid UI. This is where you will create and manage your connections to the SAP server or Liquid UI Server. In addition to creating a server connection, we are also configuring Auto Logon, TLS, and Start transaction features at the connection level.

On Server Connections, you can perform the following actions.

Create a New Connection

When you launch the Liquid UI App, you will either see CONNECT TO MY SAP or ADD CONNECTION options. To create a new connection, please do the following:

  1. Click CONNECT TO MY SAP.  If you are adding a connection for the first time then click ADD CONNECTION to add a new connection.

  2. Enter the required data, as explained in the following list:
    Security Lock

To authenticate the users' identity through Touch ID or Face ID before connecting to your SAP Server or editing the connection details of your SAP Server, thus avoiding unauthorized access (optional).

    Description

Enter a short description of the target server. This can be anything, but it should be informative.

    Application Server

Enter the SAP application server, the Liquid UI Server, or the SAP message server in this field. If you are connecting from an external location, you will need to input the full name (e.g., sapserver.guixt.com). This entry is required and can be either a name or an IP address.

Note: Server names are case-sensitive. Make sure you enter the name of your server exactly as it appears in the SAP GUI Logon Pad.

    Instance Number

This two-digit number is the last two digits of the port number of your device, that is used to connect to the target server. If the SAP server is using port 3220, then your entry would be '20'.

    Client

This three-digit number is your SAP client's ID number. In our example, we are using '900', but you will need to use the correct number for your deployment. The client ID can be found in the 'Usage data' section of the SAP Status screen. Like the preceding entries, this is a required field (optional).

    SAP Router

It specifies the router address if you are connecting to your SAP Server using a router (optional).

    User Name

This is your SAP username. It should be entered exactly as you would when you log into SAP GUI. This is a required field only if you are using Auto Logon (optional).

    Password

This is your SAP password. Enter this exactly as you would when you log into SAP GUI. Please note that passwords entered into the Connection List do not display in plain text. Like the 'User Name' field, this is a required field only if you are using Auto Logon (optional).

    Language

This is an optional field. Here, you can enter the two-digit language code used by the SAP application server. Each language has its code and here, we are using the code for English, which is 'EN' (optional).

    Start Transaction

It will let you specify the transaction, which the user will be navigated to instead of the default Easy Access Screen after establishing a connection. Either you can fill in the details while adding the connection or later add it by editing the already existing connection (optional).

    Auto Logon

This pushbutton enables and disables the Auto Logon feature - it is set off by default. When Auto Logon is enabled, Liquid UI will automatically log you into the current default connection when you launch the application(optional).

    TLS

This feature in Liquid UI for Android provides users with control over the data transmitted wirelessly through end-to-end encryption(optional).

  • When you have finished entering the SAP Server connection details explained above, click CONNECT TO MY SAP to login to the specified SAP Server.
