Components
The GuiXT Offline Solution Suite includes three important architectural components. These components represent the building blocks of GuiXT technology. Each component directly effects SAP business processes, productivity, and return on investment.
- Database: How is data managed in Offline mode? GuiXT Offline uses an integrated database. Metadata gets constructed automatically during run time depending on the database definitions created for each process. Each device has its own database, which doesn't require a central server or external intervention.
- Synchronization: Data flow is handled in packets, which can be configured. Each process corresponds to a data table in GuiXT Offline. Information from these tables is sent in packets to SAP. In seconds, information is saved in SAP—the direct result of the multi threading capabilities of GuiXT WS Platform.
- Data Management: Data that reside in the GuiXT Offline database is dependent on user ID because multiple users can share the same device throughout the day for business operations. Different users are not able to see each other’s data.
Key Differentiator
Built on the GuiXT WS Platform, GuiXT Offline provides users with the same look and feel that they are used to seeing with their SAP system, eliminating any perception that they have left the application. In addition, Offline utilizes industry standard web scripting, which increases the user experience with any SAP business process while maintaining data integrity.

Architecture
- GuiXT Offline is comprised of the Offline client (or standard SAPGUI) and Offline Database. Offline Client presents users with an SAPGUI like environment. The Offline Database provides storage for the data maintained in Offline applications. Applications are created using web scripts. Create a client application from scratch for detailed custom processes by using standard API’s that are delivered with GuiXT Offline.
- Customer can also utilize pre-defined process focused applications to customize GuiXT Offline to their specific needs. As applications are defined, data table definitions are created in these web scripts. Based on these definitions, a database and corresponding tables can be created automatically once the GuiXT WS Server is initiated.

Offline and SAP
GuiXT Offline interacts with SAP ERP through the GuiXT Server, a highly scalable environment that provides fast execution of data packets sent from Offline. As the central deployment mechanism for GuiXT, the Server acts as a gateway to SAP—passing data coming from the Offline client.
The Server uses a specific identification mechanism to recognize the information coming from the Offline client. This mechanism is called METADATA formation. Without the metadata defined in the Server, the data integrity between Offline and SAP would not be possible.
Offline needs GuiXT screens to be created in GuiXT Server [SAPGUI] to process data coming from SAP. The process of this data is initiated either by a remote function call or by directly accessing SAP Dynpro screens in related transactions in SAP. The logic for processing data is created using GuiXT scripts.
GuiXT Offline makes efficient use of communication bandwidth by pushing most of the processing to the server side. The efficiency of this process is backed up by the 64-bit GuiXT WS Platform.
Back to TopScalability
Regardless of whether you're a small business with 20 sales people or a large organization comprised of 3000 employees located in various manufacturing facilities, GuiXT Offline is scalable to the needs of each and every type of organization. Offline uses an integrated and easily scalable database for data management and a gateway (GuiXT Server) for the fast processing of that data.
GuiXT Server is capable of balancing loads between multiple servers (if defined) and has the disaster recovery management tool, which automatically restarts in case there's an unexpected failure maintaining the consistency of an online connection at all times.
Back to TopPre-configured Apps
GuiXT Offline solution includes pre-configured applications for Sales and Distribution (SD) and Plant Maintenance (PM). These applications are created based on proven customer experiences. Applications are still customizable according to client needs.
All customizations regarding these templates are mostly declarative since process flow and navigation is standardized based on real life scenarios that yield a fast, easy, and inexpensive implementation.
