Plant Maintenance
This process focuses on one type of plant maintenance (PM) that requires complex navigation and multiple screens to complete. A big part of PM is preventive, which defines the activities to be performed and the extent of maintenance. It also defines the inspection work and when it should be performed. Other requirements that should be specified are the frequency of maintenance and the costs.
Challenge
With SAP the navigation for this process is complex and requires too many screens that contain too many unused fields. Transactions take a long time to complete and require a great deal of user training.
Solution
Implementing GuiXT enables the PM notification creation process for the above transaction type to now be consolidated into three simple screens that don't contain any unused fields. The process is now broken down into three basic steps. Each step is completed on one screen, complex navigation is no longer needed, and user training time is dramatically reduced.
Materials Management
When the need to procure a product that is managed as a stock item in the materials management department is identified, an SAP reservation is created. The user will log on to SAP creating a reservation that outlines all of the material requirements for stock managed goods. The details about the material, including quantity and delivery date will also be entered. Material can also be viewed by using the display material transaction.
Challenge
Users have to remember multiple transaction codes. SAP screens were not readily portable to the mobile environment. Transactions involve a steep learning curve.
Solution
GuiXT is used to simplify create purchase requisitions, create reservation, and goods issue. GuiXT enables the modification of SAP screens to extend into mobile environments; data entry to complete purchase requisition process to be reduced; and default start transaction to be created. Buttons are easily added on default screens, allowing users to carry out various operations by clicking on buttons, not requiring them to remember any transactions. Material display transactions are modified in a way to fit the mobile screens and display only the required fields. The complexity involved in creating purchase requisitions, creating reservations, and display material process are all reduced.
Human Resources
SAP HR is powerful and fully integrated across the SAP suite. The opportunity now exists to make it easy to use, eliminate training, and increase the accuracy of critical employee data. To illustrate this, let’s consider two common SAP HR processes: Create New Employee & Performance Appraisal.
Challenge: Create New Employee
Before GuiXT, users had to navigate 16 screens, enter redundant data across multiple screens (e.g. employee ID number), and deal with data entry errors that were propagated across multiple systems as a result. Complex process resulted in incomplete information, which increased cost and delays (dependent information, emergency contacts).
Solution
After implementing GuiXT, HR staff only need to deal with a single screen that includes radio buttons and interactive prompts. Data entered once auto populates across the process. And because there is less data to enter and more automation there are also fewer errors.
Challenge: Performance Appraisal
Before GuiXT, users had to navigate 8 screens. Managers had to attend training every 6-12 months because of the infrequent use of the system. The complexity of the process resulted in less complete information, and less meaningful appraisals by time-constrained managers. Errors have financial implications. Omissions, such as forgetting to attach critical documents, result in appraisal not being applied to payroll in a timely manner.
Solution

Sales and Distribution
If sales and distribution is the lifeblood of your business. The sales order process is critical to the successful and profitable handling of customer accounts.
