2.1.2 Installing, Modifying, and Removing Workbench


You will use the InstallShield Wizard to install, modify, and remove Workbench. In this section we will explain how to do each of these actions.

Installing Workbench

To install Workbench, please do the following.

  1. Obtain the Installer file (WorkbenchSetup.exe) from a Synactive Sales or Support representative.

  2. Download the Installer to the target machine. Please note that the Workbench Installer must be run from a local machine - it may not function correctly if run from a server.

  3. Double-click the downloaded WorkbenchSetup.exe file. The Welcome window will appear as shown below. Click Next.


  4. The window containing the End User License Agreement (EULA) will display as follows. Check the I accept... box and then click Next.


  5. The Customer Information window will display as in the following example. Enter your user and company name and then click Next.


  6. The Destination Folder window will display as in the following example. Synactive recommends retaining the default settings. Click Next.


  7. The Ready to Install window will display as shown below. Click Install.


  8. The Progress window will display as in the following example. Please wait for the install process to complete.


  9. When the install completes, the Finish window will display as shown below. Click Finish. The Workbench is now successfully installed on the target system.


  10. Restart SAP and then launch Workbench. The following window will display.

    Note: Make sure that the 'GUIXT' icon in the status bar is as shown in the example. You may need to quit Workbench, restart SAP, and then re-launch Workbench.

Modifying Workbench

To modify Workbench once it is installed, please do the following.

  1. Launch the Workbench Installer. The Welcome screen will display. Click Next.

  2. The Program Maintenance screen will display. Click the Modify radiobutton and then click Next.


  3. The Components window will display as shown below. Choose the component to repair and then click Next.

    Note: In Workbench, there is only one component. Please do not modify this component unless so instructed by a Synactive Support representative.

  4. The Ready to Modify window will display. Click Next.


  5. The Progress window will display.


  6. When the install completes, the Finish window will display as shown below. Click Finish. The Workbench is now successfully installed on the target system.


Removing Workbench

To remove Workbench, please do the following.

  1. Launch the Workbench Installer. The Welcome screen will display. Click Next.

  2. The Program Maintenance screen will display. Click the Remove radiobutton and then click Next.


  3. A window informing you that you will remove Workbench will display as shown below. Click Next.


  4. The Progress window will display as shown below.


  5. When the removal operation is complete, the Finish window will display as shown below. Click Finish. The Workbench is now successfully removed from the target system.
